Wood clay is a nontoxic by-product of the pencil-making industry, which explains the clay's eau-de-pencil-sharpener aroma. Like cork clay, wood clay can be shaped, dried, covered with metal clay, and fired in a kiln. That said, wood clay has some distinct advantages over cork clay.
