How To: Balling up the End of a Piece of Wire

Published: November 5, 2007
Cut a piece of round sterling silver wire. Use crosslocking tweezers to grasp the wire at its midpoint, and dip the wire in flux. Hold the wire vertically and lower one end of the wire into the tip of the inner blue cone of the flame of your torch. After a ball forms at the end of the wire, remove the flame, and then quench, pickle, rinse, and dry the wire.
